Gor Mahia edge Tusker in 100th league meeting as Police FC register back-to-back wins

Tusker emerged for the second half with renewed purpose. A stinging effort from Oalo forced the Gor keeper into an alert save before Oruko danced inside from the flank only to see his shot blocked, with Vin pouncing on the rebound but again denied.

The FKF Premier League entered Round 10 with high stakes across the country, but all eyes were fixed on Kasarani Stadium where Gor Mahia marked their 100th league meeting with Tusker FC by edging the Brewers 1–0 in a tense, tactical contest that reinforced their title ambitions in the 2025/26 campaign.

The match began with urgency from both sides, but it was Gor who capitalised first after just eight minutes.

Sustained pressure on Tusker’s defence forced a catastrophic back-pass that wrong-footed the goalkeeper and rolled straight into the net, handing Sirkal a gift of a lead in front of an animated home crowd.

From that moment, Gor settled into their rhythm, controlling the tempo for much of the first half.

Morrison’s deliveries from set pieces caused repeated alarms in the Tusker box, with Sylvester rising to meet one threatening cross but heading straight at the keeper. Austine then came closest to doubling the advantage shortly before the interval, his long-range effort skimming just inches past the upright as Gor carried their 1–0 lead into the break.

Tusker emerged for the second half with renewed purpose. A stinging effort from Oalo forced the Gor keeper into an alert save before Oruko danced inside from the flank only to see his shot blocked, with Vin pouncing on the rebound but again denied.

The Brewers rolled the dice with a series of early substitutions, introducing Yakeen, Curtis and Kapaito to inject speed and directness into the attack. Gor, however, responded with equal tactical maturity, refreshing their midfield in the 61st minute as Alpha and Bryson made way for Fidel Origa and Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw.

With tightened lines and disciplined positioning, Sirkal absorbed Tusker’s pressure and protected their slender margin to the final whistle. The 1–0 win not only delivered revenge in this storied rivalry but also cemented Gor Mahia’s place at the summit of the league table.

At the Police Sacco Stadium, defending champions Kenya Police FC claimed a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Mathare United. The breakthrough arrived midway through the first half when Daniel Sakari curled in a dangerous corner that Mathare failed to deal with, ultimately turning the ball into their own net under pressure.

Police, chasing consistency in their title defence, managed the game with maturity, making calculated substitutions in the second half to strengthen control and protect their lead.

Mathare showed flashes of resistance but found little joy against the Police’s compact defensive unit. The hosts held firm through the final minutes to secure their second win in as many games, a welcome boost for a side determined to return to continental football.

In Awendo, KCB earned a massive result with a 1–0 victory over Mara Sugar in a match decided by what may stand as the fastest goal of the season.

December Kisakah stunned the home fans by finding the net in under a minute, finishing off a defensive lapse that left Mara reeling.

The early blow forced Mara to chase the game throughout, but KCB, who have been battling form, showed rare defensive resolve.

The bankers absorbed sustained pressure and rotated their squad smartly, bringing on Hemphrey Mieno, Kelvin Etemesi, Jack Okello and Philemon Nyakwaka to stabilise rhythm in midfield and protect the advantage.

The match tightened in the closing minutes, with time-wasting bookings reflecting KCB’s determination to leave Awendo with maximum points. Kisakah’s early strike proved decisive, earning him the Lion of the Match award and lifting KCB’s morale at a critical point in their season.

Meanwhile, at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a, Bidco United and Bandari FC battled to a goalless draw in a match characterised by defensive discipline and missed opportunities.

Bidco, who entered the fixture desperate to end a three-match scoring drought, pushed forward with urgency but lacked the cutting edge needed to convert possession into goals.

Bandari, enjoying improved form under coach Mohamed Borji, remained organised and difficult to break down, doing just enough to claim a point on the road. The stalemate leaves Bidco frustrated but still competitive in a tightly packed mid-table.
